Dreams in Darkness is the 28th episode of Batman: The Animated Series. It also marks the final time that Scarecrow is an episode's main villain (in the original series).
[edit] Plot
The episode begins with Batman being trapped in Arkham Asylum because doctors there think Batman has gone insane. Batman then tells the story of how this came to happen. Basically, Scarecrow leaked rumors of a robbery in order to lure batman in to a trap. The trap exposed Batman to Fear toxin which in turn caused Batman to crash off a cliff near Arkham. Scarecrow did all of this in order to ensure that his plan for spreading Fear toxin throughout Gotham City (via the city water supply) would go more smoothly. Unfortunately for Scarecrow, Batman eventually breaks free and thwarts the evil plan.
[edit] Trivia
- The plot by the Scarecrow in this episode to poison Gotham City's water supply is similar to the main plot of the 2005 film Batman Begins.
- The way the episode plays out is similar to the Superman TAS episode "The late Mr Kent".
