[edit] DC animated universe biography

Karl Rossum is a creative genius that engeneers a super computer called H. A. R. D. A. C. or Holographic Analytical Reciprocating Digital Computer. Due to the tragic lost of his gorgeous daughter, Rossum also programs the computer to be able to create duplicates, the firs of which is Randa, a duplicate of his Daughter he presents to the world as his assistant.

Despite Rossum's good intentions, HARDAC comes to the conclusion that humans are imperfect and that it must use its technology to create perfect duplicates of people to replace them. And it took the efforts of Batman and Barbara Gordon to destroy the machine.

After the incident Rossum retires for a while. Meanwhile an android that survived HARDAC's destruction and is modeled after Batman and programed to believe he is actually him, realises the nature of its body and goes to question Rossum suspecting he is either behind the situation or at least knows if HARDAC did something to him. But Rossum breaks him the news that he is actually a robot created by HARDAC.

Time later, Rossum moves into the toy making business. In Deep Freeze, after Mr. Freeze is kidnaped by a robot using his technology, Batman and Robin go to question him about it. They were both astonished by Bat-mite and other impressive prototype toys he is creating that welcomed them. Rossum is able to identify Grant Walker as the owner of the kidnaper robot.
