[edit] DC animated universe biography
In the DC animated universe, whether as a source of trouble, a rival or a confidant, Lois Lane is a constant in Superman's life. The producers went for the classic look from the silver and golden age comics and the stubborn, competitive personality she has in the modern comics. She is portrayed as a savvy, stubborn, sly newswoman who doesn't stop to anything to get the true behind the stories she is working on, which often gets her in deep trouble.
In Superman: The Animate Series relationship with Clark is at first much about healthy professional rivalry; she often underestimates him calling him Smallville and attempts to trick him out of stories. Clark on the other hand, thanks to his superpowers, often spot the risks Lois often runs by messing with the wrong people as a reporter, and warn her to watch herself, but she wrongfully takes his warnings as attempts to steal the stories for himself. Meanwhile, she doesn't get to find out his secret identity as Superman in any episode.
At first, in The Last Son of Krypton, Lois is skeptical about Superman, but she quickly develops care for him and in The Way of All Flesh she actually rescues him from Metallo.
As part of her background story it is revealed that she previously dated Lex Luthor, but that relationship ended as she discovered the kind of corrupt man he actually is. However, despite she is always trying to get some compromising information on him, Luthor still respects her and in Target, he actually helped Clark and her find out the identity of a person threatening her life.
In The World's Finest Lois also has a quick, brief and yet deep relationship with Gotham City's billionaire Bruce Wayne, but it ends when she discovers that he is the Batman.
The first sign of Lois' feelings towards Superman are actually shown for the first time when she kisses a Superman of another reality in Brave New Metropolis, as she was returning to her own world while the "real" Superman watches. However, the Lois and the actual Superman don't share their first kiss until the final moments of Legacy, a two-part episode of the last season.
They are later shown to be dating as Superman and Lois in the Justice League Unlimited episode Question Authority, but she is not actually aware of his secret identity as Clark Kent. In the episode Divided We Fall, the producers planned to have Superman reveal his secret identity to Lois as an epilogue, but the decision was vetoed by the Network.
