[edit] Plot synopsis
Black Mask, a new villain with an effective organization to back him up, threats the city with a shockwave generator devise that can destroy big parts of it and demands a ransom. He is apprehended by Batman, but the devise still hidden somewhere and his henchmen at large, so Batman goes to locate the devise while Robin and Batgirl are left to escort the police in case Black Mask's men try to set him free. is arrested, but his devise to destroy Gotham is still hidden somewhere, so Batman goes to find it and leaves Robin and Batgirl alone to prevent the villain from escaping the authorities.
Batman goes to the place where, according to Black Mask's lap top, the devise is, but it turns out the henchmen had instructions to change its location and set a trap in the previous one, if the computer is ever confiscated, so now lead by Number One, Black Mask's right hand man, they are able to capture Batman. Then they put gas in the Police Station's air system to put the asleep and wait for him to get out; however, Batgirl and Robin were able to get their air mask on time, went to fix the ventilation system and locked Black Mask in a cell. Then, to prevent the henchmen from entering the building they go to the entrance to close a special security gate the police has in case of criminals breaking out (only in this case it serves to prevent them from breaking in), and while Robin fights the first ones to enter, Batgirl locates the control and closes the gate. They try to communicate with Batman, but Black Mask tells them that, thanks to his henchmen, by then, Batman shouldn't be able to help anyone (as he actually was). The henchmen find a way in through the elevator conduct, but the duo is able to prevent them from entering by crashing the elevator down. Then, Number One finally able to break in through the gate by crashing their vehicle and the henchmen knock out and lock Batgirl and Robin in a cell and set Black Mask free.
Meanwhile, Batman manages to stun the henchmen guarding him, recuperate his utility belt and set himself free. At the Police Station, Batgirl and Robin escape their cell thanks to a master key Batgirl has in her boot. On the roof, before boarding his helicopter to escape, Black Mask stuns and fires Number One for "letting children slow him down", makes another henchman his new "Number One" and . Robin and Batgirl arrive and he proceeds to climb the helicopter stairs while leaving his henchmen to fight them, but the duo fight his men quickly and get to grab the helicopter stairs before it is out of their reach. Black Mask fight them on the stairs, gets on the helicopter before them and throw the stairs, thinking he's got finally rid of them, but they are able to climb to the helicopter and tie him. Black Mask shows them he has set the shocking generator to shoot right then, but to his surprise, it doesn't work.
They force the pilot to land the helicopter on the street near the entrance to the police station, where they discover Batman in a vehicle, who apparently gets there in time to deactivate the devise, which is right there in the vehicle, pointing at the Station.
[edit] Trivia
- The henchmen have opportunities to kill Batman, Batgirl and Robin, but they only knock them down and lock them. They all use non-lethal weaponry.
- The way Black Mask fires and stuns Number One and assigns another henchman to become the new "number one" is similar to the way the Joker is treated by Grissom and then Bob the goon by the Joker in Batman, with the main difference being that Black mask does it because he is too strict, Grissom because the Joker is having an affair with his girlfriend, and the Joker because it amuses him.
