[edit] Trivia
- This two part episode was written by Dennis O'Neil former editor of the Batman titles and creator of Ra's Al Ghul and Talia Al Ghul.
- The episode is similar (but not identical) to Ra's Al Ghul's first comic appearance. This is due to both stories being written by the same author.
- Ra's states during the second part that he had chosen Bruce to take his place, as he "has no sons". However, the episode Showdown, which aired much later, reveals Ra's to indeed have a son, Arcady Duvall. However, Arcady was revealed to be both too cruel and too enfeebled beyond the help of the Lazarus Pits to lead his empire, so it's unknown if Ra's meant this statement to mean he has no sons capable of taking over.
- As a show of just how calculated his madness is, during the second part of the episode, after Ra's tells Batman of his plans to cleanse the earth with the Lazarus pits, he corrects Batman's statement that the resulting cataclysm would cost 'countless' lives; Ra's had actually calculated a precise estimate of how many people would die as a result of his plan, the total ending at 2,056,986,000.
