The Laughing Fish is the 33rd episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series. The story is based on Detective Comics #475 and #476 [1]. It first premiered on January 10, 1993.

Joker has poisoned every fish in the bay, giving them each "Joker smiles". He then plans to copyright these fish to earn fast money, threatening to murder pencil-pushers until he succeeds.

- The Joker makes references to three restaurants: Long John Silver's, McDonald's, and Colonel Sanders' Kentucky Fried Chicken.
- George Dzundza, who plays the hapless G. Carl Francis here, later appeared on the series playing the villain Arnold Wesker/Scarface, and he played editor Perry White in Superman: The Animated Series.
